Habit Tracker
Build better habits with daily tracking. Mark habits complete each day and build streaks to stay motivated.
How the tracker works
Add up to ten habits, and each day tap the ones you did. The calendar view shows a coloured square per day, and the counter shows the current streak and the longest streak for each habit. Everything is stored in this browser on this device; nothing is uploaded and no account is needed. It is deliberately minimal: the research on habit formation suggests that the act of recording is what matters, and that apps with points, badges and reminders add friction more often than motivation.
What actually makes a habit stick
- Attach it to an existing routine. "After I pour my morning coffee, I do two minutes of stretching." Habits anchored to a cue that already happens every day form far faster than ones tied to a time of day.
- Make it small enough to do on a bad day. The habit is "put on running shoes and go outside", not "run 5 km". On good days you do more; on bad days you keep the streak.
- Track it immediately. Tick the box right after doing the thing, while the small satisfaction is fresh. That is the reward that builds the loop.
- Expect about two months. A well-known study found habits took a median of 66 days to become automatic, with a range from 18 to 254. Plan for the median.
- Never miss twice. One missed day makes no difference to the long-term outcome; two in a row starts a new pattern. Missing a day resets the streak counter here, but the calendar still shows the month, which is the more honest picture.
