Calorie Burn Timer Uses

Weight Loss

Track calories burned to support weight loss goals.

Workout Planning

Compare calorie burn rates between different exercises.

Fitness Logging

Record exercise sessions with time and calorie data.

How the estimate is calculated

The timer estimates energy expenditure with the standard MET method used in exercise science. A MET (metabolic equivalent) is the energy cost of an activity relative to sitting quietly; walking briskly is about 4 METs, running at 10 km/h about 10, vigorous cycling 10–12. Calories per minute = MET × body weight in kilograms × 3.5 ÷ 200. Choose an activity, enter your weight, press start, and the running total updates every second. The MET values come from the Compendium of Physical Activities, the reference list used in most research and fitness devices.

How accurate is it?

Honestly, moderately. MET values are averages across many people; individual differences in fitness, technique, body composition and terrain easily produce errors of 20 % either way. The estimate is better for steady activities (walking, cycling at a fixed effort) than for intermittent ones (interval sessions, team sports), and it does not include the raised metabolism that follows hard exercise. Wrist-worn trackers have similar or larger errors in independent tests. Use the number to compare sessions with each other and to track trends, not as an exact accounting for a diet.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are the calorie estimates?

Estimates use MET (metabolic equivalent) values from exercise science research. Actual burn varies by individual.

What activities are supported?

Walking, running, cycling, swimming, yoga, weight training, HIIT, and many more.

Do I need to enter my weight?

Yes, calorie burn depends on body weight. Enter your weight for more accurate estimates.
