Time Unit Converter
Convert any time value between seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. Instant bidirectional conversion.
How the conversion works
Enter a value in any unit and the converter shows it in all the others at once: seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years, with large numbers formatted for readability. The exact factors are 60 seconds per minute, 60 minutes per hour, 24 hours per day and 7 days per week. Months and years are the awkward ones: this tool uses the average Gregorian year of 365.2425 days (which accounts for leap years) and a month of one twelfth of that, 30.44 days. Those averages are what most engineering and finance calculations use; for exact calendar dates, use the date calculator, which counts real month lengths.

Where it comes in handy
- Software and data. Timeouts in milliseconds, retention periods in seconds, cron schedules in minutes; the Unix timestamp converter handles the related date problem.
- Project planning. Turning person-hours into weeks and months, and back.
- Science. Half-lives, orbital periods and reaction times reported in whatever unit the paper chose.
- Everyday curiosity. How many hours are in a school year, how many weeks until a date, how many seconds old you are (the age calculator will tell you directly).
